Typhoid Outbreak In Parts Of Navosa, Naitasiri

The Ministry of Health and Medical Services advises that there are typhoid fever outbreaks occurring in the villages of Nabaitavo, Waisasavua and Uluiravo settlement in Naitasiri.

There is also an outbreak in Naveyago Village in Navosa.

In the Naitasiri villages there have been 14 confirmed and seven suspected cases from August 1, 2018, to date.

In Navosa, there have been four confirmed and one suspected case from September 5 to date...

THE current typhoid outbreak in Fiji has been contained.

This was confirmed by the Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete.

Earlier this month, a typhoid outbreak was reported in Naitasiri, 31 confirmed and 14 suspected cases in young Fijians and those between the ages of 30-40 years.

Dr Waqainabete said the outbreak in Naitasiri was waterborne as villagers resorted to drinking from the river during the prolonged dry spell...
