Mom Says Doctors Did Not Do Enough To Help

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- The family of a 27-year-old woman who died from swine flu, or H1N1, said doctors did not do enough to save her.
Mildred Medina Campos said she hopes her daughter, Mildred Marie Campos, did not die in vain.
"Nothing is going to give my daughter back. I don't have anything to get my daughter back, but I can give other life for this world so people won't get sick," Medina Campos said.
Mildred Medina Campos hopes her daughter's death will serve as a reminder to everyone to take no chances when it comes to swine flu.
Campos' sister, Mildred Campos, puts the blame on Florida Hospital Kissimmee, where Campos died on Friday.
"The doctors should have known she had all the symptoms of swine flu, but they didn't keep her there. How are they going to send her home?" Mildred Campos said.
Records show that Mildred Marie Campos first checked into the hospital on July 22. Doctors diagnosed her with pneumonia, gave her a prescription and sent her home, her family said.
She went back to the hospital two days later, which is when she was finally admitted to the intensive care unit, her family said.
Family members said she should have been diagnosed sooner.
"I think if we would have known, or if the doctors would have known, they would have treated her more adequately," Mildred Medina Campos said.
The entire family is wearing surgical masks and gloves to avoid possibly spreading the virus if they have it.
"I think our duty as family, parent and friend is to tell the world, 'We're in bad shape. We have to protect ourselves because this virus is here and it's taking over,' " Mildred Medina Campos said.
Florida Hospital said they could not discuss details due to privacy laws, but they have done a preliminary review of the case.
