So 19 dead out of 787 confirmed cases? By my calculations that makes a 2.4% rate of death. Sons familiar? I mean, if they like to use only "confirmed" cases then it works both ways, right? Can't just use the confirmed rate to show how few cases there are. Or better yet, as a way to show that the virus is slowing down?

The error in your math is that the 787 confirmed cases needs to be divided by the number of people that have died 7 days forward from now, assumming that it takes 7 days for the average patient to die after being marked as a confirmed case. If you go backwards a week, the amount of confirmed cases was about one tenth of what it is now. That translates into a death rate closer to 25%. Of course confirmed cases and confirmed deaths are neither perfect numbers, however by using the WHO's numbers only, atleast we are comparing apples to apples. What really needs to be calcualted is the average days people live after being confirmed as having the flu to extropolate a more accurate death rate.

As far as I can tell - actual details surrounding the deaths is located in an innaccesable black hole. I have been searching for - and asking for these details for days. I have yet to find any seriously established facts. Strongest evidence for what's actualy going on seems to be blogs/posts from various doctors/nurses - which is painting a not so rosy picture, but it's scattered, sometimes hearsay, and sometimes even retracted - and mostly impossible to confirm.
