Experts: In Europe the untypical tropical diseases appear
Jan 6, 2006
The spread in Europe of the tropical diseases, which previously was present only in such regions as Africa, is one of the consequences of global warming, it is said in the report to Italian nature-conservation organization.
Experts from group Legambiente thus far do not speak about the nova explosion diseases. However, they warn that the individual cases of malaria, black fever and some it is specific encephalitis, fixed in Europe, are one additional evidence climate variations on the continent, the BBC transfers.
According to the data Legambiente, for the latter several years were registered several cases of the malaria, reason for which became the gnats, that are multiplied in Europe. "This something entirely new - earlier in Italy not there was malaria, says chapter Legambiente Francesco ferrante. - These first several cases greatly prick up ears. As yet there is no risk, but in the future this can be very large problem, if we this do not stop".
In Europe is found not only the malaria, but also the less known tropical diseases, which extend the mosquitoes, for example black fever (visceral leyshmanioz). According to the data Legambiente, from 2000g. in Italy yearly is fixed about hundred cases of black fever. In the beginning 1990- X yr. of them there were a total of about fifty.
Not only the people suffer from the tropical diseases in Europe. During August 200'g. large livestock in Holland, Belgium and Germany proved to be infected by the tropical virus, which was called name "dark-blue language". "These viruses are extended here, because the changed climate is located to this. This changes everything. Of about 20% of fish in our Mediterranean - tropical forms from the Red Sea. This is also abnormal", notes F. Ferrante.
Legambiente asserts that in the course of time the tropical diseases can become for Europe usual. As analysts indicate, with such illnesses it is possible to fight at the level of the individual countries. However, the only method to stop their propagation - this to change the policy of the international community in the region of climate.
It does not be worth forgetting, also, about the virus of the "bird influenza", native land of which Asia is called and which more than once let itself be known in Europe. Since the beginning of 200'g. the highly pathogenic strain H5N1 "bird influenza" took away the lives of 76 people. Approximately so many people they died of this illness in the previous three years. Disease was extended to 55 countries, whereas as of the end of 200shchg. the flashes of dangerous infection were noted only in 16 countries.
Let us add that during December of past year the experts of the World Bank, calculated, that in the next two or three years the fight with the "bird influenza" will require additional financing in the size of 1,2-1,5 billion dollars. Here enter expenditures both to development and production of vaccine and on the compensation to natural farmer economies as a result of the mass destruction of the infected bird.
