<HR>A sudden increase in severe influenza has been registered in the Czech Republic since the end of 2012, with 264 cases requiring intensive care, including 51 deaths. Most patients had at least one risk factor. Severe influenza in patients with obesity, smoking and/or haematological disorders including haematological cancers was more frequent than in the pre-pandemic period. The seasonal influenza vaccination status of the cases indicates indirect efficiency of the current vaccine in preventing severe influenza.

In the current situation, it appears that there was to stop an increase in an epidemic.
Obviously, then we're close to its peak. The decrease is in most regions and in all age
groups," said the Valenta. In the 100 thousand people this week 1756 cases of disease.
The numbers acute respiratory diseases decreased compared to the previous week by
3,4 percentage points, flu by 4.3 percent.
