AFFECTED POPULATION DESCRIPTION
The poultry farm has 161 birds (117 laying hens, 19 ducks, 11 geese, 10 pigeons, four peacocks). On the 15th of February, one laying hen suddenly died and was sent to the laboratory. By 17th of February, 16 laying hens had also died and by 2nd of March, three geese, three peacocks and one duck had died too. HPAI virus of subtype H5N1 (RT-PCR) was confirmed in one laying hen by the National Centre for Laboratory Research and Risk Assessment on 3rd of March, 2023. Samples taken on the 1st of March from five laying hens, one peacock, one goose and one pigeon were positive for serotype H5N1.
