The seven-year-old boy was rushed to hospital on Saturday, along with his parents, after the stricken family were discovered by fire crews evacuating homes in Chertsey, Surrey, as the River Thames burst its banks.
Police were called by ambulance crews after a child and his father were ?taken unwell? at a house in Thameside, at 3.30am.
The boy was pronounced dead at Chertsey Hospital, while his father, aged in his 40s, and his mother, aged in her 30s, remain in a serious but not life-threatening condition.

David North, who works in Chertsey, said: ?Properties were in the middle of being evacuated because of the flooding in the area and a house was found with an adult and a child possibly with carbon monoxide poisoning.?
He said a pump was coming out of the window of the house where the casualties are believed to have been taken from and he suspected that fumes from the pump motor could be to blame.
...
Chief Superintendent Dave Miller, from Surrey Police, said the weather was ?one line of inquiry? they were pursuing in relation to the boy?s death.
...
?We are currently following various lines of enquiry and it would be wrong to speculate on the cause of death at this stage.
The cause of the illness is currently unknown but what I can confirm is that the people who were taken ill are from a very localised area.?
