Singer Elton John was on Sunday being treated in for a severe case of the flu and a bacterial infection, according to British media reports.

The 62-year old singer announced on his website that he has had to cancel three more concerts on the advice of his . He was admitted to a London hospital after his deteriorated Friday.

His partner David Furnish told the Daily Mail that the singer was doing well.

Since October 23, John has cancelled several performances during his Red Piano Tour of Britain and Ireland after he caught he came down with the flu.

His results in a second postponement of a planned concert with Billy Joel in the United States. The Face 2 Face Tour had originally been scheduled for June but postponed to November after Joel became ill with the flu.

Three Face2Face concerts postponed

The Elton John / Billy Joel Face 2 Face concerts originally scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, Saturday November 7 and Tuesday, November 10 have been postponed.

Promoter Live Nation, The KeyArena and The Rose Garden were informed by management that Elton has been advised by his doctor to postpone these performances due to a serious case of e-coli bacterial infection and influenza.

Organizers of the events are working to establish new dates. All patrons who have purchased tickets for the Face 2 Face concerts on Wednesday, November 4 and Saturday, November 7 at the Key Arena, Seattle and on Tuesday, November 10 at Rose Garden Arena, Portland are being asked to hold on to their tickets until more information is available regarding the proposed rescheduled engagement.

Rocket Man is feeling under the weather.

After canceling a string of shows in his native UK, Elton John has followed doctor's orders and postponed three upcoming concerts in Seattle and Portland "due to a serious case of e-coli bacterial infection and influenza," his official website states.

A spokesman clarified that the 62 year-old musician "has flu and is absolutely fine," BBC News reports Sunday.

John has been performing in the U.S. with co-headliner Billy Joel for their "Face 2 Face" arena tour; Joel's "flu-like symptoms" temporarily put the brakes on their tour back in July.

The 62-year-old?s partner David Furnish spent most of yesterday at his bedside at King Edward VII Hospital in Marylebone, London, which specialises in looking after the Royal Family.

He was also visited in his $930-a-night room by celebrity friends including artist Sam Taylor-Wood.

Sir Elton has been cared for by the hospital?s elite medical staff since Saturday, when it is understood his two-week illness worsened.

Flu complications can refer to bronchitis, viral or bacterial pneumonia, muscle inflammations and infections of the central nervous system. Those at highest risk include the over-50s and children under four.

On Satursday, Sir Elton cancelled the last leg of his Red Piano tour in Dublin, having earlier pulled out of concerts at Sheffield, Newcastle upon Tyne, Liverpool and Wembley. But he did play in Barcelona last Wednesday.

He also missed Boyzone star Stephen Gately?s funeral two weeks ago, with Mr Furnish attending in his absence.

Sir Elton?s spokesman confirmed that he was being treated for flu with complications but declined to elaborate beyond saying: "He has got an infection, flu and everything that goes with it."

When Mr Furnish left the hospital later, dressed in black and wearing sunglasses, he told The Mail on Sunday newspaper" "He?s OK - he?s fine."

LONDON - Elton John has been released from a London hospital after being treated for flu and an E. coli bacterial infection.

The singer's spokesman Gary Farrow says John was at home Friday and was feeling fine. He left the hospital early Thursday.

He says John planned to resume his suspended tour and would play scheduled U.S. dates with Billy Joel starting in Oakland, California on Nov. 14.

Illness has forced the 62-year-old musician to cancel several gigs in Britain, Ireland and the U.S. over the last few weeks.
