Eleven people infected with the A(H1N1) virus have been admitted to hospitals in the eastern Dutch town of Nijmegen. However, the regional health authorities say there is no cause for alarm.

The Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre has reported seven confirmed cases of Mexican flu and the Canisius Wilhelmina Hospital (CWZ) four. A spokesperson for the CWZ also said there was no reason to be concerned, but added that there was "reason for alertness"

The Nijmegen health authorities speak of a "normal pattern that meets expectations." On Thursday, the health authorities were flooded with calls from concerned parents. In late December, the A(H1N1) virus claimed the lives of two children from the Nijmegen region: a four-year-old and an eleven-year-old.

Re: Eleven cases of swine flu in Nijmegen hospitals

The number of flu patients in Nijmegen hospitals is high compared to other hospitals.

May be more patients are administered in hospital in Nijmegen, as a reaction to the recent death of 2 children.

Both children were previously healthy, their parents went to the clinic, they were sent home.
