Zika transmits syndrome
01/11/2016

Although in Nicaragua's Ministry of Health has reported no cases of Zika virus in El Salvador, where there is already the presence of this virus, health authorities have reported 46 cases of Guillain-Barr? syndrome (GBS) which is suspected of being zika related.

The epidemiologist Leonel Arguello, president of the Nicaraguan Society of General Medicine explained that the Guillain-Barre syndrome is an autoimmune disease in which the body attacks itself and it affects the nerves or connections all over you It carries a tingling sensation, muscle weakness and paralysis because nerve transmission slows.

"
We want to warn people and remind them what it means to destroy breeding (mosquito). The epidemiological alert the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) says there is a possible association between the increase in Guillain-Barre with zika presence in our country, "said Health Minister Violeta Menjivar to La Prensa Grafica of El Salvador four days ago.

11 JANUARY 2016

Patients are stable and receiving the respective treatment. These cases are in addition to the 46 recorded by Ministrty of Health

The director of the Salvadoran Social Security Institute (ISSS), Ricardo Cea, reported the detection of two new cases of Guillain Barre syndrome treated at the institution in patients previously suffered from the Zika virus syndrome.

Patients were reported Sunday night."Yesterday I reported two new cases detected and we are trying all cases and urge Salvadorans to try and eliminate breeding sites, otherwise we can not solve this problem," he said.
Cea said the situation is stable and patients are being treated.

The doctor recalled that the Guillain Barre syndrome is "a consequence, not yet proven, patients who have had zika above, or a fever. All patients have had zika and then develop this and therefore treated with the appropriate medication."

These two cases are in addition to the 46 that the Ministry of Health reported last week.
