CAIRO - Editor Msrawi - The Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Amin Abaza, the Egyptian Thursday that Egypt has identified an area of about two million acres on the border with Sudan, the two countries can be cultivated with wheat in the joint venture. وقال الوزير إن الأرض تقع في منطقة ارقين على ضفتي النيل قرب بلدة وادي حلفا الحدودية وإنها مقسمة الى 700 ألف فدان داخل الحدود المصرية و3ر1 مليون فدان داخل الأراضي السودانية.
The minister said that the land is located in the telegram on both sides of the Nile near the town of Wadi Halfa border and it is divided into 700 thousand acres inside the Egyptian border, 3 R. 1 million acres inside Sudanese territory. وأضاف أنه من خلال هذه الأرض "يمكن البدء في تحقيق حلم الاكتفاء الذاتي من الحبوب ومواجهة ارتفاع أسعار الحبوب عالميا وخاصة القمح".
He added that through this land "can begin to realize the dream of self-sufficiency in grain and the face of rising grain prices globally and especially wheat." وكان رئيس الوزراء المصري أحمد نظيف قد اعلن ان اقتراحا بتأسيس مشروع مشترك لزراعة القمح على مساحة مليون فدان على الحدود سيعرض خلال اجتماع للجنة العليا المصرية السودانية بالقاهرة في 23 مايو 2008.
The Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif has announced that a proposal to establish a joint venture to cultivate wheat on an area of one million acres on the border before during a meeting of the Higher Egyptian-Sudanese in Cairo on May 23, 2008. من جانبه، أكد نافع علي نافع مساعد الرئيس السوداني أن مشروع استصلاح واستزراع مساحة تكفي لإنتاج مليوني طن من القمح سنويا سوف يتكلف ملياري دولار، مؤكدا أن التكلفة ستكون نصف السعر العالمي للقمح حاليا.
For his part, said Nafi Ali Nafi assistant to Sudanese President draft reclaiming and cultivating an area sufficient to produce two million tons of wheat annually will cost two billion dollars, stressing that the cost would be half the world price of wheat at present. تجدر الأشارة أن مصر تنتج سبعة ملايين طن من القمح سنويا وتستورد أكثر من ستة ملايين أخرى.
It should be noted that Egypt produces seven million tonnes of wheat annually and imports more than six million others. وقال أباظة إن السودان يستورد مليوني طن سنويا، وأن سد عجز البلدين في إنتاج القمح يتطلب زراعة ما بين ثلاثة وأربعة ملايين فدان إضافية.
Abaza said that Sudan imports two million tonnes annually, and bridging the inability of the two countries in the production of wheat cultivation requires between three and four million additional acres. المصدر:وكالة انباء الشرق الاوسط
