The poultry industry is one of the most promising industries in Egypt, to which the state also pays special attention, as the value of investments in this industry, according to an official report from the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, reached about 100 billion pounds. Egypt also produces 1.4 billion birds annually and 14 billion eggs, and this has been achieved. Self-sufficiency and there is a surplus for export.

The poultry sector in Egypt represents one of the major operational and industrial sectors, employing about 3 million workers directly and indirectly through delivery and transportation services and other services related to the industry. The total number of poultry establishments in Egypt is about 38 thousand establishments, including “farms - factories.” Feed - slaughterhouses - outlets selling veterinary medicines and vaccines. The number of farms is based in the Delta, where the Sharkia Governorate has the largest number of poultry farms, with a total of 5,800 farms, followed by Qalyubia Governorate, with a total of 2,500 farms “in 2021.”


The report explained that Egypt recently succeeded in issuing a decision by the World Organization for Animal Health for 40 facilities in the field of poultry production and related activities as facilities free of bird flu, which contributes to opening new markets for export and providing logistical, technical and financial support to small poultry breeders and raising the efficiency of their farms and converting them from a system Open breeding to the closed system, and allocating 9 regions in 4 governorates with a total area of ​​19 thousand acres for poultry investment.


The animal production, dairy and meat production sector represents a great opportunity for investments in addition to the poultry and fish sector, as 9 regions were allocated in 4 governorates with a total area of ​​19 thousand acres for poultry investment. 13 sites affiliated with the General Authority for Reconstruction and Agricultural Development Projects were also allocated, and with regard to fish wealth projects, 21 regions were offered. Marine “fish farming site” in the Mediterranean and Red Seas: 12 sites in the Mediterranean Sea and 9 sites in the Red Sea in the field of fish farming in marine cages.


It is worth noting that the political leadership is leading an unprecedented agricultural renaissance over the past years, and that the giant projects launched by President Sisi, as well as the proactive measures he adopted, contributed to strengthening Egyptian food security and also enabled the state to confront climate change and the lack of supply chains due to the crisis.
