The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Saturday issued the annual Bulletin of Animal and Poultry Diseases Statistics for the year 2016, confirming the decrease in the number of cases of influenza infection by 65.1%.

The number of poultry infected with avian flu reached 173 in 2016, compared with 495 in 2015, a decline of 65.1%. This decrease is due to the effectiveness of the vaccine and serums used. Minia recorded the highest percentage of bird flu with 12.7% (11.6%), Sohag 17 (9.8%), Qena 16 (9.2%), and Damietta and Beheira (1).

As for the incidence of skin diseases, the rate of skin disease was 59 in 2016 compared to 44 in 2015, an increase of 34.1%. The governorates of Qena, Kafr El-Sheikh and Beni Suef recorded the highest incidence of nodal skin disease with 33 focal points, Of the total number of foci. The lowest incidence was recorded in Damietta, Beheira, Sohag and Aswan governorates, where only one of them was registered.

The report pointed out that with regard to the treatment of livestock and animals, the number of livestock and animals treated from internal diseases was 669 thousand cases in 2016, compared to 623 thousand cases in 2015, an increase of 7.3%, and Matrouh governorate recorded the highest rate of 73.9 thousand cases by 11% , And the lowest percentage of Port Said Governorate with 1.5 thousand cases, 0.2% of the total number of cattle and animals treated from internal diseases .

The number of poultry treated for internal diseases reached 5.5 million in 2016, compared with 5.9 million in 2015, a decrease of 7.8%. The production of protective viral vaccines reached 453.0 million in 2016, compared to 322 million in 2015, an increase of 40.7% %.
