Veterinary services: More than one million birds in the governorates were vaccinated against bird flu during June.

Dr. Hamed Al-Aqnas, head of the General Authority for Veterinary Services, confirmed that 1,030,415 birds were vaccinated against avian influenza during the past month of June, noting that a number of governorates, including Qalyubia, Assiut, Sohag, Fayoum, Sharqia and Gharbia, recorded outstanding rates in implementing vaccination work, reflecting the efficiency of the veterinary work teams and the continuation of efforts to support small breeders and raise immunity rates in villages and rural areas.
The head of the authority pointed out the continued monitoring of the implementation of biosecurity requirements in farms and poultry facilities, as 107 biosecurity inspections were carried out for various farms and facilities during June, in addition to dealing with reports received through the hotline, and taking the necessary measures to preserve public health and poultry wealth.
Al-Aqnas stressed that the General Authority for Veterinary Services continues to implement investigation and vaccination plans and raise the efficiency of the biosecurity system, in coordination with the veterinary directorates in the governorates, in order to support the state’s efforts in developing the poultry sector and achieving food security.
He pointed out that the General Authority for Veterinary Services continues to receive reports and inquiries regarding epidemic diseases and any problems facing poultry breeders and producers, through the hotline 19561, which works to receive complaints and reports of any suspected diseases or technical problems on farms, stressing that the Authority’s teams and the veterinary directorates in the governorates are fully prepared to deal with all reports quickly, efficiently and professionally, and to take the necessary veterinary measures to ensure the protection of poultry wealth and the preservation of biosecurity and public health.
