Re: Egypt - Doctor Says Donkeys Could Be Next for 2009 H1N1 Flu

If donkeys does this mean horses as well?

Re: Egypt - Doctor Says Donkeys Could Be Next for 2009 H1N1 Flu

I do not know but horses do get equine influenza.

Re: Egypt - Doctor Says Donkeys Could Be Next for 2009 H1N1 Flu

A google search for Valonflonza turned up only this article, even when I choose similar terms. Any ideas?

Re: Egypt - Doctor Says Donkeys Could Be Next for 2009 H1N1 Flu

Because of the medical emergency we have google has placed FT on a high priority to disseminate our information quickly.

Valonflonza is a made up name from the translator.

Re: Egypt - Doctor Says Donkeys Could Be Next for 2009 H1N1 Flu

Perhaps I am mistaken, but to my knowledge animal viruses cannot infect plants, nor can plant viruses infect animals. Or maybe the translation has issues and I am not adept at making the mental corrections?

Re: Egypt - Doctor Says Donkeys Could Be Next for 2009 H1N1 Flu

The reference to "plants" is an artifact of the machine translation, which means it is an oddity. These machine translations are not 100% accurate. We use them to look for trends. "Plants" is not the correct translation of the arabic word used here.

Re: Egypt - Doctor Says Donkeys Could Be Next for 2009 H1N1 Flu

That's what I figured. Sometimes these machine translations are quite entertaining however. Thanks for confirming.
