The mohp has released another report which covers two days worth of data for h5n1 cases. these days are April 1st and 2nd

I will start with the information for the second which adds only two new suspect cases to the total which is currently 11,588

this report add two new suspect cases one each in the following governorates
03 Giza Governorate (Arabic: الجيزة‎) suspect case total 574
22 Gharbia Governorate (Arabic: الغربية‎) suspect case total 1,312

case number 108 remains within the hospital in the Cairo governorate

I can tell from this report six other new suspect cases were added on Friday the first of April and have no affect on any statistics as no new positive cases were added for these governorates.

Fayoum has added only one new suspect cases one on the 31st march the suspect cases from march 31st was confirmed positive on Friday this should be case number 109

no other data is available from this report

this does reduce the suspect to positive case ratio to 13/1 for march.
the average daily new suspect case count for march works out to roughly 2.1

وذكر البيان أنه تم اعطاء المصابة عقار "تاميفلو" على الفور، إلا ان حالتها حرجة وتم تحويلها إلى مستشفى صدر الجيزة.

The statement said it was given infected drug "Tamiflu" immediately, but the critical condition was transferred to a hospital in Giza.

this is a really bad translation and gives the impression that 109 have died from bird flu in Egypt based on the title.it also quotes the mohp correctly when it mentions the cases numbers as 75 + 33 = 108

but for some reason 108 is still shown in the hospital as of yesterday within the mohp report and the cases of recovery are only 74 the deaths are 33 with 2 under-going hospital treatment.which = 109

but i would not be surprised if case 109 has become another fatal case. for some reason they chose not to transport the person to the abbassia hospital where most other critical cases were moved for treatment. logic would indicated only a case of near death would be taken for treatment to another facility.

I tried to get the article commonground posted but it wont open or come up for me in goggle. even the web site www.fayoumwindow.net

Health Ministry announces 109th bird flu case

The Health Ministry confirmed on 3/4/2010 a new bird flu case in Egypt bringing the total number to 109 since its appearance in Egypt in 2006 till now.

The ministry said that the case is of an 18-year-old woman from Al-Fayyoum Governorate.

The ministry reported that she suffers from high temperature and difficulty in breathing and she is treated in Al-Fayyoum Fever Hospital since March, 31.

Im still stuck on the age issue and am wondering if there may be another new case of h5n1 which has not been made public yet. or even maybe a case of h1n1 from fayoum which was fatal. but it looks like most of the recent cases i can find were from alexandria.

The mohp released a reported dated for April third which shows a new fatal case being added under the Giza governorate,the fatal case total goes to (2).

It also contains information which indicates the case was a person from the fayoum governorate.

here are the current statistics for the governorate number 04 Faiyum Governorate (Arabic: محافظة الفيوم‎)

221 total suspect cases since 2006,with seven positive cases confirmed,one case of recovery is listed, with two death shown under this governorate the death recorded under Giza makes three for sure.

one other governorate added a single new suspect case to its total as of this report number 19 Monufia Governorate (Arabic: المنوفية)

the current suspect case total is 11,589

im still left with the age question

Hi Twall, I've often seen thru the years, tracking, that the age of a victim can sometimes vary, from article to article. I just put 18/20 next to the description. I think it is the same person. Sometimes in Indonesia, we would have 3 separate ages...

This is very odd. They should know enough to put the fatality in Fayoum Gov....

كانت السيدة قد احتجزت بحميات الفيوم بسبب ارتفاع درجة حرارتها والاشتباه في إصابتها بأنفلونزا الطيور، قال زوجها إن صحتها تدهورت بصورة حادة رغم أنهم لا يربون طيورا منزلية.

The woman was detained by viruses Fayoum because of the high temperature and the suspicion of being infected with bird flu, said her husband, her health has deteriorated sharply, even though they do not raise birds at home.

وقال الدكتور سامر رشدي مدير مستشفي حميات الفيوم: إنه تم سحب عينات منها وإرسالها إلى المعامل المركزية بوزارة الصحة لبيان مدي سلبيتها أو إيجابيتها للمرض ولم ترد نتائج العينات حتى الآن.

Dr. Samer Rushdie, director of Fayoum Fever Hospital: It was withdrawn and the samples sent to labs central Ministry of Health with the extent of passivity or be positive for the disease and there were no results of the samples so far.

the one sally posted sort of reads like it could be the same one i posted. but the age is listed as 28 and it has not been confirmed based on the article.
