صرح د.هانى الناظر رئيس المركز القومى للبحوث أن هناك تعاونا بين المركز والمعمل المرجعى بمعهد بحوث صحة الحيوان وكبرى شركات إنتاج الدواء من أجل إنتاج مليار قرعة من لقاح أنفلونزا الطيور من سلالة 2009 قبل الشتاء القادم وجارى الآن بناء مصنع برأسمال مصرى على أرض مصرية وبخط إنتاج مستورد من الخارج من أجل توفير اللقاح الذى يعتمد على السلالة المصرية التى تم عزلها من البيئة المحلية.
وقال د.محمود بهجت أحد أعضاء الفريق البحثى إن معهد بحوث صحة الحيوان يتولى مهمة عزل السلالة بالتعاون مع المركز القومى الذى تتوفر فيه تقنية الهندسة الوراثية العكسية، وقال بهجت ردا على سؤال مدى حجم التعاون مع الشركة المصرية القابضة للمستحضرات الحيوية واللقاحات "المصل واللقاح" قال "سوف نتعاون مع طوب الأرض من أجل مصلحة مصر ومن اجل خروج اللقاح للنور" بينما رفض الحديث عن التمويل قائلا: "لا يمكن التطرق لهذا الموضوع، لأنه أكبر منى بكثير إلا أنه أشار إلى وجود رجال أعمال فى الموضوع".
وأضاف د.محمود بهجت قائلا، إن الناس والصحف تحكم على اللقاح الذى توصل إليه المركز قائلا لا يمكن تقييم هذا اللقاح على السلالة الحالية لأنه حدث تحور للفيروسات متسائلا: كيف يتم تقييم سلالة تم عزلها من 2006 ونحن الآن فى 2009 مؤكدا أن اللقاح الجديد الذى سوف يتم تصنيعه سوف ينتج من أحدث سلالة موجود وهى 2009.
