Egypt bans ornamental birds from at least 10 countries to protect against epidemic diseases in poultry and livestock

Wed, 20/02/2013 - 10:08Government decided represented in the General Authority for Veterinary Services banning the import of birds decorations from abroad until June 30, and to preserve the poultry and livestock in Egypt, and exposure to epidemic diseases such as avian influenza, and includes a list of countries that are imported birds decorations including ?the Netherlands, Belgium, and Japan , Canada, Poland, Spain, and Italy, and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Kuwait.
Said Dr. Joseph Mamdouh Shalabi, head of the Central Department for quarantine, in a press statement on Wednesday, said the decision comes because of the low temperatures during this period, a period appropriate to the spread of viruses in case shipments of birds coming into Egypt to infection posing a risk to poultry production to Egypt
