This is a large number of physicians to have perished from 'H1N1'. Wouldn't they have had at least one immunization since 2009 that may have proffered some immunity? Wouldn't physicians be a bit more adept at preventative measures to safeguard their own health? If it is H1N1 of the 09 variety, it seems to have gained some 'kick'.

The United Nations denies deaths among doctors in Egypt because of swine flu

CAIRO: The United Nations’ Media Office in Cairo denied Tuesday the accuracy of reports in Egyptian media that quoted the World Health Organization (WHO) staff saying Egyptian doctors had died of H1N1 related infections.

“This information about the death of doctors is inaccurate,” the UN said in a statement according to data from WHO.

According to the WHO, the latest data on H1N1 in Egypt shows a total of 172 positive cases, with 16 deaths. Cases also “showed no clustering in Dakahalia Governorate,” added the UN.

“WHO is working closely with the Egyptian authorities to monitor the H1N1 situation in the country,” added the statement.

Al-Masry Al-Youm reported on Monday that WHO advisor in Cairo Nasr Tantawi announced that 14 people died from H1N1 infection, including four doctors, and that 45 cases had been diagnosed in Egypt since January.

Ministry of Health reports 195 confirmed cases of H1N1

Twenty-four people have died of the swine flu in Egypt since December, according to the Ministry of Health.

In a Tuesday statement, Ministry of Health spokesman Dr Ahmed Kamel said there have been 195 cases of swine flu?medically known as H1N1?reported since early December.

In the same statement, Minister of Health Dr Maha Al-Rabat said that she has ordered that every hospital in the country carry the vaccine for the swine flu. Al-Rabat added that two doctors have contracted the virus, but none of the patients who had died contracted it from the doctors.
