أكد حاتم الجبلي- وزير الصحة- أن توطن مرض إنفلونزا الخنازير بمصر بات شبه مؤكد وأن الهجوم القوي للمرض سيقع خلال شهري يناير وفبراير المقبلين مشيراً إلي أن لديه تحفظاً علي قرار إغلاق المدارس حالياً إلا إذا تعدت الإصابة بالالتهاب الرئوي نسبة 10% ووصلت الوفيات من إجمالي المصابين إلي أكثر من 2%.

من جهة أخري أعلن عبدالرحمن شاهين- المتحدث الرسمي باسم وزارة الصحة- عن اكتشاف 15 إصابة جديدة بفيروس إنفلونزا الخنازير ليرتفع عدد المصابين بالمرض في مصر إلي 1193 حتي الآن، مشيرا إلي شفاء 1147 حالة ووفاة 3 حالات ويتبقي بالمستشفيات 43 حالة لتلقي العلاج، مشيراً إلي أن حالات اليوم من غير طلبة المدارس بلغت 6 حالات من بينهم 3 حالات مصريين الجنسية وحالة قادمة من الكويت وحالتان مقيمتان بمصر وحالتان إنجليزيا الجنسية وكانتا قادمتين من إنجلترا وحالة إيطالية الجنسية وقادمة من إيطاليا.
