QUITO, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Ecuadorian Policy Minister Ricardo Patino has been infected with A/H1N1 flu, the Health Ministry reported on Thursday.

Patino began to show flu-like symptoms last week and is currently being treated with anti-viral medicine at home.

President Rafael Correa is also under medical observance because one member of his security team has been infected with the flu, the ministry said.

Correa will not be isolated as he has not been symptomatic, it added.

The staff working at the Carondelet Palace has been ordered to wear masks after the infection.

Ecuador has reported 23 deaths from A/H1N1 flu, while the number of infections in the country has exceeded 700, according to the ministry.

Sems that the bug starts to reach castles worldwide.

Unfortunately in many places only than (after; not prior, which could spare them) wearing masks became a must.

QUITO, 15 (ANSA) - The head of the security group of Ecuadorian president, John Merino, is treated in an intensive therapy for pneumonia caused by influenza A/H1N1.

The officer is in the general hospital of the Armed Forces in the capital, artificial respiration and unconscious on the president Rafael Correa.

The president sympathizes with his junior but is criticized for not having taken the precaution of the case.

"I had flu in six days, but not to stop supporting the president in these commemorations, said nothing and went there and it was swine flu," Correa said Saturday on its chain.

The ruling confirmed that the carrier is not a new influenza virus. The proof of this was his presence in the broadcast chain from Cuenca, 310 km south of Quito.

Two more people were infected with influenza in the presidential escort other and the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Ricardo Pati?o. The minister was discharged on Friday afternoon and is recovering at home.
