Quito, on Dec 22 (PL) The Ecuadoran Minister of Public Health, David Chiriboga, recommended today to the citizenship to adopt precautions before the increase of cases of respiratory illnesses caused by the virus A (H1N1).

This increase stems from the cold temperatures and to the moisture that is demonstrated during the last weeks, and the experts think that the virus of influenza A (H1N1), that appeared in 2009, has already turned into a seasonal virus. That is to say, clarifies the official statement, which appears at the cold stations, together with other similar viruses as A (H3N2). From December 2 until December 18 spent type has presented to themselves 37 suspicious cases of illness influenza in the province of Imbabura, and the sprout of last week happened in the Center of Provisional Detention of the city of Ibarra. There there appeared a whole of 32 cases, of which 11 needed hospitalization and five of these persons had to enter to the intensive care unit. They all are evolving favorably and they received treatment with oseltamivir. To avoid the spread of the illness, in the Center of Provisional Detention of Ibarra prophylactic treatment has happened with oseltamivir to the totality of interns and penitentiary guides.

Swine Flu Returns to Ecuador

QUITO ? Ecuadorian health authorities announced three confirmed cases of AH1NI flu virus and another 184 people suspected of having the disease in the northern province of Imbabura, according to Ecuador-TV.
