SITUATION UPDATE

31/10/2013 As of 31 October 2013, 226 human cases of West Nile fever have been reported in the EU and 557 cases in neighbouring countries since the beginning of the 2013 transmission season.

During the past week, two new cases were reported in the EU, whose dates of onset are both in August.

Hungary reported one new case in Fej?r, a county with previous case reports.

Italy reported one new case in Brescia, a province with previous case report.

In neighbouring countries, no new cases were detected.

As no recent cases were reported in the EU for the last weeks, ECDC will publish its last weekly maps for 2013 on Friday 8 Novembe
