The Australian doctor in charge of the World Health Organisation's Ebola response says drug companies are reluctant to invest in a cure for the disease.
Rick Brennan said there was little financial incentive for companies to invest in anti-Ebola drugs because of the rarity of the disease and that fact that the vast majority of the victims were in Africa.
"When you produce treatments for less frequent diseases such as Ebola... there is not the market, so there is not the commercial viability," he said.

"It gives cause for concern", he said, that drug companies "prioritise investment into drugs that have commercial viability".
