The influenza assessment clinic at Major?s Path will be relocated to 112 Ropewalk Lane Thursday, Eastern Health announced today.

The clinic, established on Friday, Oct. 29, has seen an increasing number of patients each day since opening and has outgrown the space at Major?s Path.

Physicians at the clinic saw: 66 patients Oct. 29th; 72 patients Oct. 30; 114 patients Oct. 31; 167 patients Nov. 1; and 163 patients Nov. 2.

Family physicians in the St. John?s region are availing of the clinic?s services to help them manage the increasing numbers of influenza-like illness in the community.

Eastern Health says that relocating to 112 Ropewalk Lane, in the site of the old breast screening clinic, will help keep up with the increasing demand. The clinic has also eased the burden on emergency rooms in the city. However, Eastern Health stresses that individuals who are experiencing difficulty breathing or serious shortness of breath should still be seen in an emergency department.

The new clinic will be open Thursday from noon to 7 p.m.
