JEMBER | SOLAR Online - The number of people with dengue fever (DB) in Jember regency, East Java (East Java), during January 2010 reached 412 people, four of them even died.
PR Department of Health (health office) district of Jember, Yumarlis, Monday (1/2/2010), said the number of dengue patients continued to increase along with the arrival of the rainy season.
"The number of dengue cases as much as 25-30 cases each day, so that the community should be alert to the disease that can result in death," he said.
Although the number of dengue patients reached hundreds of people and people with children four of whom died. However, Jember health office has not set the status of extraordinary events (KLB) dengue fever in the local district.
"Jember health office had set a dengue fever outbreak in 2005, because the number of dengue patients for one month to reach 601 people. Today, with the number of 412 cases, we can not determine dengue fever outbreak, "said Yumarlis.
He explained that most cases of dengue fever in the area of dense residential city, but did not rule out suburbs could be dengue fever endemic areas if the environment is unhealthy and dirty.
"The number of cases of dengue fever spreads in nearly 31 sub-districts in Jember, but most sufferers are in three districts of the District Patrang, Kaliwates, and Sumbersari," said Yumarlis.
For that, he continued, health office appealed to the whole community to eradicate the movement of mosquitoes nest (PSN) on a regular basis on every Friday.
"Nest aegypty Aedes mosquitoes can develop in places where stagnant water, so residents must make a move that is close 3M, buried and piled them around the house. Environment must be clean, "he added.
Yumarlis also urged the public aware of dengue fever symptoms such as high fever for seven days, headache, muscle aches, joint pain and red spots on the skin.
"If there are such symptoms, should be immediately taken to the clinic or the nearest hospital, so that it can be treated early and avoid the risk of death," he explained.
Yumarlis also said, all cases of dengue fever patients died in Jember late because the family brought the patient to the hospital DB, and his condition was severe.
