Unidentified people threw dozens of chickens away on Sunday in Dinnieh, raising citizens' concerns that the animals were contaminated with bird flu. The chickens, some of which were still alive, were found at the entrance of al-Nabi Youshaa town. Laboratory tests were to be conducted on samples taken by a veterinarian sent by the government. According to the veterinarian, the results would not be ready before next week. Meanwhile, migratory cranes flew over Baalbek and Hermel on Monday, raising fears the flock would contaminate local birds with avian flu. However, in a statement, Agriculture Minister Talal Sahili said there was no need to worry as long as people refrained from hunting the migrating birds. - Morshed Ali
