Suspected cases of Monkey Pox are reported in the health zone of Punia, the provincial health minister indicated on Friday January 20 to Radio Okapi.
Two suspected cases have been isolated and their samples taken will be brought to Kindu, the capital of Maniema province, says the provincial Minister of Health of Maniema, Junior Kibungi Mutanga:
“The province has just been informed that there is the appearance of suspected cases of Monkey Pox in the health zone of Punia. It is an eight-month-old girl with her mother. For the moment we have just made arrangements so that we can bring the samples to Kindu and then to the INRB (National Institute for Biomedical Research) Kinshasa”.
Dr. Junior Kibungi Mutanga invites the population to be vigilant to prevent the spread of the disease.
