Already more than a thousand Covid-19 confirmed cases in Kinshasa *

• The city of Kinshasa reached this Monday, May 11, 2020, more than 1,000 confirmed cases of Coronavirus;

• Since March 10, 2020, the date of the start of this pandemic in the DRC, this province, the capital of the country, has remained the epicenter of this disease with a rate of 93.6%;

The Covid-19 Response Committee said in its daily bulletin on the epidemiological situation on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, that the DRC has registered 67 new cases, including 57 in Kinshasa and 10 in Kongo-Central province.

Based on this assessment, the Democratic Republic of Congo has 1,169 confirmed cases, 6 new people have died, bringing the number of deaths already recorded in the DRC to 50 since the start of this pandemic in the country on March 10, 2020.

Harassment continues against Covid-19 response teams in Kinshasa *

The Democratic Republic of Congo has recorded 143 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 including 95 in Kinshasa, 20 in North Kivu, 12 in South Kivu, 11 in Kongo Central, 4 in Haut-Katanga and 1 in Kwilu, c is a cumulative of 2,546 including 2,545 confirmed cases and 1 probable case.

According to the epidemiological bulletin of Tuesday, May 26, the National Institute of Biomedical Research (INRB) reports that 25 new people have been cured, no new deaths among the confirmed cases.

Since the start of the pandemic on March 10, there have been a total of 365 people healed, 68 deaths (67 confirmed cases and 1 probable case), 1679 patients in good evolution.

567 suspected cases are under investigation and 410 samples have been tested.

7 provinces remain affected by this Covid-19 pandemic.

But Kinshasa and Kongo Central remain the most affected.

The first city in the country with 2293 cases and Kongo Central has 176 cases.

• Since the start of the epidemic declared on March 10, 2020, the cumulative number of cases has been 2,660, including 2,659 confirmed cases and 1 probable case. In total, there were 69 deaths (68 confirmed cases and 1 probable case), or 2.7% and 381 people cured;

• 114 new confirmed cases, including 101 in Kinshasa and 13 in Kongo Central;

The second confirmed case of Kwilu Covid-19 is from Bonga Yasa *

• The second confirmed case of Kwilu is a 61 year old man, deceased, living at Camp Mokamo in the Kimburi Health Area in Bonga Yasa;

• He is administrator of the palm oil factory and arrived in Bonga Yassa on May 11, 2020 from Kinshasa, specifically from the Ngaba health zone;

• The signs of Covid-19 began to date from May 11. He presented several signs of Covid-19;

• He was hospitalized on May 15, where he was isolated and the alert was launched on May 21 by the health facility where he was interned, the Mokamo Health Center;

• He died on May 22, 2020 and the saliva collection was carried out;

• Public health actions have been undertaken by the Bonga Yasa health zone and investigations are underway. *

As a reminder, the recommendations of the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo against Covid-19 *:

* For access to Congolese territory:

1. Suspension, until further notice, from March 20, 2020, of all flights from countries at risk and transit countries. Only airplanes and cargo ships and other means of freight transport will be authorized to enter the national territory and their personnel subject to controls;

2. Postponement of trips to the Democratic Republic of the Congo of all resident passengers

3. Requirement for all passengers, upon arrival at national borders, to complete an information sheet and to submit, without exception, to the obligation to wash their hands and take the temperature;

4. Imposition of a quarantine of 14 days maximum on any person suspected at the end of the temperature test, for a thorough examination and if necessary to intern, in the hospitals provided for this purpose, the people who will be tested positive;

5. Provision of all maritime, river, lake and land entry points in the national territory with the same monitoring device to reinforce the control of passengers from abroad;

6. Systematically subjecting people leaving Kinshasa to the various provinces of the DRC to control measures in order to avoid the spread of this pandemic on the rest of our country. *

* For gatherings of people:

1. Prohibition of all gatherings, meetings, celebrations, of more than 20 people in public places outside the family home;

2. Closure of schools, universities, official and private higher institutes throughout the national territory from March 19, 2020 for a period of 4 weeks;

3. Suspension of all services for a period of 4 weeks from March 19, 2020;

4. Suspension of sports activities in stadiums and other places of sports gathering until further notice;

5. Prohibition, until further notice, of the opening of discos, bars, cafes, terraces and restaurants;

6. Ban on the organization of mourning in rooms and homes. The remains will be taken directly from the morgue to the burial site and in a limited number of accompanying persons;

7. Management at government expense of all cases tested positive throughout the territory. *
