Eastern Province: 63 children died of malaria in 2 months Yabongonda

Sixty-three children died of complications of malaria in the territory of Yabongonda Isangi, said civil society in this sector in a letter, Tuesday, June 19, administrative and health authorities of the territory of Isangi. Civil society regrets the delay by the health services to fight back against this disease. The district medical officer of health Tshopo Lomami, Dr. Cyprian Loseya, confirms the resurgence of malaria in Yabongonda but reserves the statistics of civil society.
Civil society sector Luete sixty-three recorded deaths from malaria in Yabongonda, twenty-three girls and forty boys. According to the vice president of that organization, Jean Luc Lisubu, the resurgence of the disease dates back to last April. It mainly affects children from birth to five years.

Ten children from birth to age five die of malaria every week since April in the health district Tshopo Lomami in the province of Ecuador. This figure was made public Tuesday, Aug. 7 by the Chief Medical Officer of Health Zone Isangi. He added that this disease occurs in three out of eight health zones that make up the district Tshopo Lomami.
The delegate of the Chief Medical Officer of Health District, one of the ways to stop the spread of malaria is the training laboratory on rapid tests for malaria and recycling hundred and fifty-three nurses on the treatment and prevention of malaria.
