Dominican Republic reports 171 dengue cases in 2026 as incidence declines
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic has recorded 171 dengue cases so far in 2026 after nine new infections were confirmed during epidemiological week 26, according to the Ministry of Public Health.
Health officials said the country has an incidence rate of 3.10 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, an 8% decrease compared with the same period last year. The ministry added that dengue activity remains within the expected range and below historical levels.
The latest epidemiological bulletin also confirmed one new case of leptospirosis, bringing the total to 179 cases, while no new cholera or malaria cases were reported. Malaria cases remain at 104 for the year, reflecting a significant long-term decline in incidence...
