Simferopol, September 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The number of children hospitalized with food poisoning from kindergartens in Dzhankoi, Crimea, has risen to 137, Viktor Brydko, the head doctor of the Crimean republic establishment "Health Center", told Interfax-Ukraine.


He said that one hospitalized child is in grave condition.

Children from eight of Dzhankoi's nine kindergartens have been hospitalized.

Most of the children were taken to hospital from the kindergarten No9 "Sonechko."

SIMFEROPOL, September 5 (RIA Novosti) - The number of children hospitalized with food poisoning in Ukraine's Black Sea peninsula of Crimea has risen to 173, local health authorities told RIA Novosti on the phone Saturday.

"One child is still in intensive care," a spokesman said, adding that the children are expected to spend at least three days in hospital.

Hospital staff said that they expected the results of tests to be ready on Saturday.

On Thursday, 59 children from the city of Dzhankoi were hospitalized with suspected food poisoning. A hospital spokesperson said that the three nurseries the children attended all received food from the same supplier.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has ordered an "immediate investigation" into the incident.

KIEV, September 6 (Itar-Tass) - Kefir was the reason for mass poisoning of children in eight out of ten kindergartens in the Crimean city of Dzhankoi, said on Sunday first deputy head sanitary doctor of Ukraine Lyudmila Mukharskaya.
