Recent revelations made in the press have shown that the United States government is actively gathering communications en masse involving citizens. Apparently these communications include emails, skype, various chats, cell phone data and more:
From the ACLU:
NSA Casts Massive Dragnet Over Americans' International Communications
As a US citizen I am 100% against mass surveillance programs for many reasons. I am outraged actually. What the hell and also $&*)*#&(*@)_*#!!!
I think the actions of the US government further lessen the credibility of government as a whole. I believe this blanket of darkness extends over the public health arenas like the Centers for Disease Control and Department of Health and Human Services.
For instance, in a few weeks the new quadrivalent flu vaccine will be available. It is the first flu vaccine to include 4 types of vaccine: 2 A type and 2 B type. Is the American public going to believe in this vaccine?
Can the public health departments manage to keep any credibility given the overall pall over the rest of the government entities? I could name the various scandals, but this is not a political site and I do not have all day.
The writing has been on the wall for some time:
Government Seeks Back Door Into All Our Communications - July 2010
Internet Intimidation Threatens Public Health - Federal Judge Dismisses Case Against Non-Profit - July 2010
All USA Citizens Need to Clear All Email Accounts - October 2011
The Threat of Indefinite Military Detention Bad for Public Health - Chilling Effect - October 2011
An Attempt to Censor the Internet in the United States - PROTECT IP Act - Stop Online Piracy Act - November 2011
Senate Anti-Leaks Bill Threatens the Rights of the Press and the Public - August 2012
I will not shut up about the government's gross invasion into our personal lives and complete shredding of the Constitution.
Apparently we now live in a police state.
What we have done to the rest of the world is now coming home to get us.
A boomerang.
From the ACLU:
NSA Casts Massive Dragnet Over Americans' International Communications
"The program described by the New York Times involves a breathtaking invasion of millions of people's privacy. The NSA has cast a massive dragnet over Americans' international communications, collecting and monitoring all of them, and retaining some untold number of them in government databases. This is precisely the kind of generalized spying that the Fourth Amendment was intended to prohibit.
"The government's scrutiny of virtually every international email sent by Americans will have extraordinary consequences for free expression. Americans will inevitably hesitate to discuss controversial topics, visit politically sensitive websites, or interact with foreigners with dissenting views. By injecting the NSA into virtually every cross-border interaction, the U.S. government will forever alter what has always been an open exchange of ideas."
