Discussion - videos, twitter links (except China)

Clearly need a food supply system for health care workers! This nurse in England just got off a 48-hr shift and could find NO food in the stores. Some stores are limiting purchases, but hoarding will continue and will spawn more hoarding. It is bad enough that medical workers are being immune compromised by lack of sleep (melatonin), but they should at least have nourishing food.

I am trying to encourage the creation of regional volunteer groups specifically to do shopping for HCWs and crowdfund for take out delivered to local hospitals. Early days on this so I can't say how successful this might be, but the way things are going here, this may be necessary in other countries / areas. I am hoping that the plea goes viral, and that this gets going. Online ordering waits are now in excess of 2 weeks just about everywhere, so I am hoping that the supermarkets can create a preferential online ordering and delivery section for key workers - however that will take some time to appear, if it is possible. If similar problems arise elsewhere these are ideas you may want to consider in your area / region. Given the technical requirements of doing the online system (requiring a GMC or similar number to be entered to access, ditto for teachers etc) and that the idea is very early days, the sooner discussion starts with food retailers the better.

Cantrell: Helping New Orleans' homeless off streets, away from 'crazy' rats a priority amid coronavirus

...

Videos on social media have shown groups of rats in the middle of Bourbon Street in recent days as restaurants and bars have shut down and typical pedestrians have stayed home.

"What we have seen is these practices are driving our rodents crazy," Cantrell said. "And what rodents do, they will find food and they will find water. That puts our street homeless in dire, dire straits. And that’s why I’m so laser focused on it right now."
