Officials: Second person in Dallas being monitored for Ebola

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/10/01/texas-ebola-patient/16525649/

Health officials are closely monitoring a possible second Ebola patient who had close contact with the first person to be diagnosed in the U.S., the director of Dallas County's health department said Wednesday.

All who have been in close contact with the man officially diagnosed are being monitored as a precaution, Zachary Thompson, director of Dallas County Health and Human Services, said in a morning interview with WFAA-TV, Dallas-Fort Worth.

"Let me be real frank to the Dallas County residents: The fact that we have one confirmed case, there may be another case that is a close associate with this particular patient," he said. "So this is real. There should be a concern, but it's contained to the specific family members and close friends at this moment."

I think the second person being monitored for ebola is probably the wife. Does anyone have info to suggest different?

It said in one of the news reports that he lived alone in Liberia, so unless his wife was already in the US this is unlikely. Sister??

It's fascinating to watch how the messaging is unfolding...

I have serious doubts about the second case. It appears that all the reports are echoing the single WFAA report from yesterday morning, which was murky at the best.

I believe the original statement was that there might be a second case at some point, and that got "whisper down the lane" to become a second person in isolation.

I don't trust WFAA reporting after the past day or so.

I think I read that his wife was an American and lived here with his son.

Sharon has found a denial of this second case, and posted it in the news thread.

Anything further from WFAA has to be viewed as highly suspect, IMO.
