On the Discovery Channel right now Dirty Jobs has a show on about swabbing birds for H5N1.

that would not be a fun job.
The birds are molting, so they can't fly. They are just herded into a pen (netting on posts) and the scooped up with a fish net, checked and swabbed.

Looks like heavy selection for healthy birds during molting, which may be far from optimal for detectable H5N1 levels.

Still...IMO, not a fun job. :)
