Imphal, June 07 2012: One person died and 43 others were hospitalized due to an outbreak of suspected diarrhoea in Chotubeghra area in Jiribam subdivision, Imphal East district.

Health Minister of Phungzathang Tonsing rushed to Jiribam along with the Additional Director, Health Department and Director, Family Welfare Department to take stock of the situation.

People started suffering from the illness for the last few days in Jiribam subdivision and were brought to the Jiribam subdivisional hospital in large number for medical treatment, said a source.

One person has reportedly died due to the illness while 43 were hospitalized for treatment at Jiribam sub-divisional hospital.

Seven of the sick persons who have been hospitalized for medical treatment are said to be in serious condition...

IMPHAL, June 7: State Health Minister Phungza-thang Tonsing to day rushed to Jiribam as the outbreak of an undiagnosed disease has left one dead and many at the hospital in the sub division.

According to our Jiribam correspondent, the symptoms of the still to be diagnosed disease are excessive vomiting and bouts of loose motion.

According to sources from the medical department, the source of the epidemic is currently under the microscope and necessary treatment is provided to the ailing patients.

It may be mentioned that due to lack of proper medical facilities in Jiribam, majority of the patients are presently referred to private run clinics of Assam.
