Mystery disease claims two in Nawalparasi

NAWALPARASI, Aug 29: Two persons including a woman have died of an unknown disease in Dhurkot VDC of Nawalparasi district. The deceased are 63-year-old Amar Singh Baraghare and a 65-year-old unidentified woman, Dev Bahadur Suryabanshi, a local, said.
The mystery disease spread in the VDC a week ago. According to Suryabanshi, the patients initially show symptoms of fever, headache and diarrhea and die after 4-5 days. More than 60 villagers in the VDC have so far taken ill and there is no medicine at the sub-health post for the patients, Suryabanshi added.
Chief of District Public Health Office Dr RH Dip said they would immediately inquire about the disease and send a team of doctors along with medicines to the VDC on Saturday itself.
