The Health Secretariat (SSA) denied that in Mexico there are cases of narcolepsy or sleep attacks unexpected result of the vaccine against influenza A (H1N1), which won a UK laboratory to 18 countries.

In an interview, Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion of the SSA, Mauricio Hernandez Avila, said that the 300 million doses that the health sector in the country applied against influenza were acquired in a French laboratory.

He explained that the World Health Organization (WHO) warned about the vaccine name Pandemrix Horn Smith Kline, which in countries like Finland are analyzed cases of narcolepsy in people who were immunized with this biological.

However, reported that in the case of Mexico in the public health sector, the vaccine was applied to prevent pandemic influenza to pregnant women, children under five years, over 60 and vulnerable people from chronic diseases, were purchased at French drugmaker Sanofi Aventis.

In private practice physicians have acquired some of the English laboratory, but even so there have been no cases of narcolepsy.

"You know we applied 30 million doses of H1N1 and apply for many months, we have no report ... We have no case of narcolepsy."

He said that the 30 million doses that were purchased for this season influenza vaccination, and brings an advance of more than 60 percent in application, were acquired by the French laboratory.

WHO warned of the effects of that vaccine were 36 million doses donated by British laboratories in 18 countries as Cuba, Bolivia, El Salvador, Armenia and Bangladesh, among others.
