While approximately 15 million mink have been killed so far, mink variations of corona infection have become more and more widespread in society.
It writes the Statens Serum Institut (SSI) in a press release.

The proportion of infected people infected with a variant of the mink mutant coronavirus has increased in the North Jutland, Central Jutland and Southern Denmark Region.

Overall, fewer people have been infected with the coroan virus in the three regions, the survey shows from week 44 to week 47, which ended on 22 November.
However, mink variations account for an increasing proportion of those who have been infected in the three regions, the figures from SSI show.

In the North Jutland Region, the proportion of infected with mink variations has increased from 17 percent to 31 percent from week 44 to week 47.

In the Central Jutland Region and Southern Denmark, the figures have only been calculated from week 46 to 47. Here, the proportion of mink-mutated coronavirus has increased from 31 per cent to 32 per cent in Central Jutland and from 11 per cent 21 per cent in Southern Denmark.

In the country's two other regions - Region Zealand and the capital - only sporadic cases of people infected with mink mutated coronavirus have been found, it is said.

While mink infection is increasing in society, there has been a marked decrease in the number of people related to mink production who are infected with coronavirus.

Some of the employees in the mink industry who have nevertheless become infected are not associated with infected mink herds or herds in the killing zone.
This may indicate that there has been corona infection in some herds where it has not been detected before the minks were killed and furred.
This may be an explanation for why a total of 402 cases of infection have been found among the employees in eight fur series.

At the end of November, SSI reported that the mink variation cluster 5 was estimated to be extinct. This was the variation that the authorities feared could pose a risk to a future coronavina vaccine.
