According to TV2, one of the TV station's employees is the first Danish to be infected with coronavirus.


The first Dane has been tested positive for coronavirus.

This is stated in a press release by the Ministry of Health and the Elderly.

According to the ministry, the person has been found infected the night of Thursday.

'We take the new situation very seriously. Work to contain and track has now begun. '

The infected person, according to the statement, returned to Denmark from a ski holiday in northern Italy on Feb. 15, and fell ill in three days.

Four new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Denmark on Monday evening, bringing the country’s total to 10.

In a measure aimed at protecting the country’s sick and elderly from exposure to the virus, all healthcare workers in the country who have travelled to outbreak areas within in the last 14 days will now be required to remain at home, the Ministry of Health has announced...

Denmark bans flights from northern Italy as coronavirus infections rise to 156


Denmark will from Tuesday not allow incoming flights from areas considered high-risk due to coronavirus outbreak, the country has announced.

Prime minister Mette Frederiksen confirmed the measure on Tuesday as Denmark’s total number of coronavirus cases continued to rise.

Patient Safety Authority (Styrelsen for Patientsikkerhed) figures updated at 11am on Tuesday show 156 confirmed coronavirus cases in Denmark with 875 people in quarantine. That represents an increase of nearly 100 over 24 hours.

In addition to the Italian regions, the ban on flight arrivals encompasses all areas designated “red” by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in its assessment of coronavirus risk, meaning it advises against all travel (not just non-essential travel) to those areas.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced today that all schools, universities, and kindergartens will be shut for two weeks to slow the spread of the virus.

Tough new measures will also include banning indoor events with 100 or more participants, and sending non-critical public sector employees home.

Private sector workers will also be encouraged to work from home, after the Danish Patient Safety Authority reported 442 new cases yesterday.

The police said they would reach out to the airlines in cases regarding stranded passengers from abroad.

...Up to 827 cases as Faroes sees spike
The latest figures from the State Serum Institute have revealed that there are now 827 confirmed coronavirus cases in Denmark.

It seems to be the smallest increase in new cases in Denmark in recent days, up from just 801 yesterday evening.

Previous daily increases of new cases have been dwindling in recent days, from 252 on March 11, to 160 on March 12 and down to 127 yesterday.

However, the health authority, Sundhedsstyrelsen, contends that there are probably far more cases in Denmark that the government is aware of.
