AFFECTED POPULATION DESCRIPTION
On December 18th 2021, a clinical suspicion (increased mortality) was reported to the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration. The holding consisted of approximately 4500 pheasants and 1500 mallards. The farm breeds pheasants and mallards for restocking supplies of game. On December 19th 2021, highly pathogenic avian influenza (subtype H5N1) was confirmed by the national reference laboratory. The culling of all susceptible animals at the holding will begin on December 21st, 2021.
