Over a thousand deaths from dengue put the region on edge
In Central serotype 2 has so far claimed more than 50 lives, and Paraguay have been 233 deaths so far this year. In Latin America, more than 544 million people are at risk of contracting the disease and in what far this year, killed at least 1,034 people.
The Pan American Health Organization talks about 456 deaths in Brazil (1,423,672 cases), 124 in Colombia (102 944 cases) and 47 in Mexico (162 008 cases). The Paraguayan case is particularly worrying, since the number of deaths from the disease, until last October 17, tripled to 70 that occurred around 2012. Likewise, confirmed cases of infection increased from 30,823 last year to 140 787 this.
