Anti-dengue campaign detects 18,000 cases
SANTO DOMINGO. ? Almost 18,000 people were detected with fever in the 709,823 homes visited last weekend in the Public Health Ministry?s day against dengue, with the support of different national institutions.
Public Health minister Bautista Rojas said that that during the campaign?s first 2 days almost one million deposits of the dengue vector mosquito were eliminated in houses and cemeteries. He said the campaign continues next weekend in the sectors of Santo Domingo West. He said personnel of the National Lottery, the Youth Ministry and students will work together with Public Health in those sectors.
He said a second stage is planned and includes fumigation in the zones where the deposits were eliminated last weekend, though urged the population to take responsibility to keep their homes free of deposits.
