AFP - Ministers of the Overseas Marie-Luce Penchard and Health Roselyne Bachelot said Friday the military mobilization of appropriate military service (WFS) and the upcoming broadcast of televised messages of prevention to stop the epidemic of dengue now raging in the Caribbean.
'Do not exaggerate, but we must be vigilant' vis-?-vis the development of the disease, told AFP Ms. Penchard.
According to statistics from the Institute of Health Surveillance (VS) and the cell inter-regional Epidemiology (WAX) Guiana, there were 4100 new cases of dengue in Guadeloupe in the first week in August 3700 and the second week.
In Martinique, there were 3,400 new cases the first week and 4,160 the second.
Since the beginning of the epidemic in 2010, surpassing the previous peak in 2007, 33,000 cases were reported in Guadeloupe, Martinique and 25,600, according to Ms. Penchard.
There were four deaths in Guadeloupe, two of which directly related to dengue in Martinique and 12, seven of which directly related, said the minister.
The teams will take place on Monday ADM alongside teams of vector control and human resources already committed by the communities of Guadeloupe and Martinique.
'This device will greatly intensify mosquito control operations and destruction of breeding sites', say the two ministers in a joint statement.
Dengue is an acute infectious disease that can be caused by four types of viruses transmitted by the Aedes mosquito.

His ministry has allocated additional funding to regional health agencies, to continue and intensify awareness campaigns among the population and measures for vector control.
