TEGUCIGALPA .- The health authorities today confirmed 39 new cases of influenza A (H1N1) and dengue hemorrhagic 31 nationally in the latest report made by the Certification Commission of Dengue.
The swine flu appeared in Honduras in May last year.
The head of the National Dengue Program of the Ministry of Health, Thomas Guevara, said he was investigating a new death from the disease and after several laboratory studies ruled that the appeal has been for those causes, but there were 39 cases nationwide being the most affected San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa.
With the new confirmations epidemiological statistics for this disease affected 100 people registered so far in the first quarter of 2010 and one death, against 631 the previous year and 16 deaths.
As for the variant of dengue were reported 31 new infections for a total of 202 collected, with 775 classic, making a total of 3.899 to date.
Health officials made the call to the people to continue with preventive measures against dengue and the "swine flu" before the rainy season arrives, as preventive measures should be taken at home and then does the Ministry of Health so.
Also reported that preparations are advancing for the D-Day to declare the country free of dengue before winter.
The plan will include the participation of institutions such as Public Health, as being a pilot, followed by Education, Interior and Justice, the National Congress, Fire Department, Armed Forces and the municipal governments, to Honduras to declare a country free from dengue before winter arrives.
