A disease that resembles measles continues to spread in the area of health Yambuku in the health area located 80 Kilometers Yalosemba the town of Yambuku. Nearly seven hundred cases of measles and twenty-seven deaths were recorded in the district of Mongala, in northern Ecuador, according to a preliminary assessment prepared by the provincial health authorities.

According to hospital sources of Bumba, the number of deaths increased from 12 to 27 in late January to date. The disease had occurred in early January.

The provincial medical inspector of Ecuador think this deadly disease should be measles. Samples were sent to the laboratory of the National Institute of Biomedical Research in Kinshasa (INRB) to identify the disease.
