Delhi govt curbs ensure low sales of Tamiflu

NEW DELHI: People getting themselves tested for swine flu at private labs cannot buy Tamiflu from the market even if the test results show they have the H1N1 infection. Chemists at the 28 ‘schedule X’ medical stores in the city that have been allowed to stock the drug say the state health department has laid down a condition that Tamiflu can only be sold to patients who have a prescription from one of the 13 designated government hospitals.

This is defeating the very purpose of allowing private labs to conduct H1N1 tests, as also the move to sell Tamiflu in the open market. Chemists say two weeks after they started stocking Tamiflu, the demand for the drug hasn’t translated into sales due to the curbs.

The idea behind retail sale of the drug was to make it easily available at local stores. :tiphat:http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...-low-sales-of-Tamiflu/articleshow/5113979.cms
