Death toll from A/H1N1 flu rise to 39 in Vietnam

HANOI, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam confirmed two more deaths of A/H1N1
influenza, bringing the country's total number of flu deaths to 39, said a report on
the website of the Ministry of Health on Friday.
The 38th case is a 54-year-old woman from northern Son La province of
Vietnam. She has a history of diabetes and arthritis.
The patient was taken to the National Institute of Infectious and Tropical
Diseases on Oct. 27 with fever, coughing. She was diagnosed with pneumonia
and diabetes.
The woman was treated with Tamiflu drug, but died on Nov. 2 due to
pneumonia and diabetes. Her test sample showed positive with the A/H1N1 virus,
said the ministry.
The 39th case is a 32-year-old man from northern Hoa Binh province of Vietnam.
The man was hospitalized on Oct. 23 with fever, coughing. He was then
diagnosed with pneumonia.
One day later, the man was transferred to the Ho Chi Minh Tropical Diseases
Hospital due to his health deterioration.
The male patient died on Nov. 3 due to pneumonia. His test sample showed
positive with the A/H1N1 virus, said the ministry.
The ministry on Friday confirmed that Vietnam's A/H1N1 flu cases have risen to
10,665. Of the total, 10, 402 patients have been discharged from hospitals thanks
to their recovery.
