In recent weeks, a high incidence of dengue fever has been reported among travelers to the islands of the Maldives, an increased number of dengue fever diseases has also been observed among tourists from European countries, including travelers from the Czech Republic who became infected in the Maldives.
Since the beginning of 2026, as of March 3, 2026, 35 imported cases of dengue fever have been reported in the Czech Republic. Of these, 20 people stayed in the Maldives, most often they reported staying on the island of Ukulhas, where a cluster of the disease was reported, as well as on Dhigurah, Thoddoo, Maafushi, Rasdu. Other areas of the world where our travelers have been infected in the last two months include Indonesia (7 times) - the islands of Bali and Lombok, Sri Lanka (5 times) and Thailand, Nicaragua, Honduras (one case each).
